Well there`s only a few hours left now till kick off and I`m bricking it.

I'm really nervous and wish I could be out there with the lads but instead I`ll be watching it at home and hopefully at 9.30 will be celebrating the red men lifting the cup :D

Come on liverpool. Bring big ears home with ya :D

I've never been this nervous before a footy game ever.

Bricking it is exactly the way to describe the butterflies releasing WMD in my guts right now.

I'll be watching in my local, but two of my friends are over there now, lucky chaps that they are.

People at work having been winding me up saying I'm dreaming- they said that before Leverkusen, Olympiakos, Juventus, Chelsea...

COME ON REDS! :D  :D

The previous meeting started at 7:30 on the night of the Liverpool/Chelsea semi. :( :(

Surely this proves there is a God and she hates me?

I`ve been told by some arsenal and man united fans that we are going to get ripped apart. As feldman said though these are the same people who all season have said we are going to get beat by all these teams.

COme on red men.

im a man u supporter but not a serious supporter, and im really nervous on how the reds do tonight.

the most nervous i was for a footie game was probs the 99' champs league final wen we(man u) was loosing and we only had 2 mins left and we scored 2 :D:D

i can still remember everything they did, (beckham waited for sheringham to come on before he took a corner 1,2,3..........GOAL!!!!!:D) and were i was at that time(away down south in a caravan)

so make england proud LIVERPOOL

COME ON YOU REDS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't watch any more. It is too painful - I really think Benitez has made his biggest mistake at Liverpool. Too many poor players - Traore (who gave away the freekick for the goal), Kewell who should be treated like a lame horse and now Smicer.

Why no Hamman/Biscan (yes I would play Eyore over the three mentioned above)?

It was a nice dream. Reckon it will be 3-0 or at best 3-1.

What a game, Dudek done his team proud this time. Gripping to the end, all football games should be like this, was like watching relegation battle over again.

Great game wish i just actually placed that bet now :(

As a person who is never wrong ;), I never thought I would be delighted to be wrong - no words can describe how delighted I am - I certainly couldn't say them - I think my throat is going septic! What the hell I'm delighted to have a septic throat. :):):):):)

PS Did you see the look on Dudek's face when he made that save? He is a lifetime livepool fan (as a boy he kept his scarf on the wall at home as Poland was that poor he didn't want it stolen) and that was a look of if I never wear this shirt again, I'm glad I did it proud!

I`ve been told by some arsenal and man united fans that we are going to get ripped apart.

And for a while you were. However any team that gets to a final of that magnitude deserves to be there. They are never going to be easy to beat, and they would never normally lie down and die. My heartfelt congratulations go out to Liverpool, but especially to their fans. I was at the Rugby Union Heiniken cup final on Sunday, and I know how much a decent set of fans helped Toulouse lift that cup. I am sure Liverpool fans contributed to the recovery of their team from what seemed such a desperate situation at half time. Well done! :)

I can't believe I missed the game - was at a gig.

I'd set my PVR to record the football but with extra time the scheduled 3 hour recording wasn't enough - it stopped just after the second half of extra time started. :(

And I forgot about the middle of the night repeat on ITV :(

So I've seen almost all of it. It must be the best Champions League final since ... well I can't think of a better final since it became the CL in 92 (Milan 4-0 Barcelona was great for Milan's awesome display but this topped it).

Atleast the gig was good :)

Interesting so Uefa themselves say the title holders are automatically in the groups with england having a further 4 teams..

That is very interesting. Did you find that yourself? If you did, you should let someone know about it (football365.com? the Press?).

It would be very valuable ammunition for Liverpool if it becomes known UEFA's own website shows that the title holders are factored into the group stages along with 4 teams from England.

I've heard people complaining that a team would have to drop out to let Liverpool in, which I agree would be unfair, but that's simply not the case, it appears.

It was on "granada tonight" tonight but I reead it on Liverpoolfc.tv forums.

THere was an article on the fa website from last year where they said if arsenal or chelsea was to win the cup and finish outside the top 4 they would get into the champions league. That article was pulled by the fa though about a mnth ago.

Great final from a neutral point of view! But Liverpool did not deserve the win.

- Their second goal was a stitch up on AC as the linesman flagged offside of which the ref chose to completely ignore.
- The third goal was not a penalty and Gerrard should be ashamed of falling over so easily. What a cheap penalty anyway accidentally skying the rebound into the roof of the net.

And finally the worst part of that win was Liverpool Goalkeeper Dudek blatently coming clearly yards off of his line before the penalty taker had struck the ball, nicely cheating the rules and narrowing the angle. In the FA cup final between Manu and Arsenal, the ref warned of this and talked to the keepers properly. This ref was a joke and I can't believe they were allowed to get away with that.

I will say what great bottle they had with come back though :)

Does anyone think that that one win (the one game) was possibly the biggest win in Liverpool's glorious history?

Let's not get carried away - it wasn't a glorious win (in a controlled/dominating way), probably not even deserved, but the money & 'player magnatism' could save a great club from an eternity of mediocrity! A night of destiny if ever there was one!

i think it was AC Milan all the way, till half time at which point the tides turned and AC looked like an english div 2 team very poor, liverpool got a decent goal and away they went.

Im also an Arsenal fan but completely disagree! Can you honestly say you think iverpool deserved the win? In what context? Do you mean "on the night" they deserved to win? Or the whole build up and attitude thing? Im talking about on the night, Liverpool didn't deserve it outright due to my above comments (offside, the non penalty, the Dudek cheating).

The first Liverpool goal was the best goal in the game.
I don't remember AC Milan complaining about the penalty and in fact they got away with what should've been another penalty to Liverpool. The ACMilan goals were all soft goals that should've been prevented. In the second half Liverpool were the better team and not just because Milan played badly...they were made to look bad by Liverpool. Yes, on the night they deserved it. And as for the antics of Dudek during the penalties, Milan would've done the same if they thought it'd help them.
I just thimk its good that a premiership team has come out on top for a change instead of being on the receiving end of bad ref decisions.

Liverpool WILL be able to defend their Champions League trophy next season after UEFA today granted them a place in the first qualifying round of the competition.

jnm21
10-06-2005, 23:58
It is good that we are in - thanks UEFA, but I think they missed the point - the champions should be treated as such & automatically be in the group stage - the decision will backfire badly on UEFA if we slip on the banana skin which is the qualifying rounds.

F A B Scott
11-06-2005, 00:25
It was the best that could've been hoped for given the time factor. If Liverpool can't get through the early stages they don't deserve to go further.
I doubt very much that will happen though so don't worry. :)
