Saw this on Slashdot yesterday, thought it was quite cool:

site wont work for me you got the right link. if you have my crappy ntl broadband is playing up
Link works fine here, but NTL may not like the coral cache. Try the direct link:

Not quite as cool as the liquid nitrogen cooled submerged computer that was around a while back, but cool none the less. Bet his house smells like a chip shop when it gets going though..

tis very bizarre to me, are there any pics to show it works. plus what is the point of having a heatsink and fan, although it would be cool to see the swirling oil lol!
ian
Oil isn't a conductor of electricity so there's no reason why it wouldn't work when submerged in oil. I guess the fans are to help the oil flow around the tank, though in a big enough tank it wouldn't be a problem. Would be really messy to upgrade anything in there though.

I saw that a while ago.
The only reason liquids and computers 'don't mix' is because most liquids conduct electricity.
It is possible to submerge it any liquid as long as it won't conduct electricity :)
It isn't very attractive though..
lol crazy.. i cant see the fans doing alot in oil though..
i know you can submerge a pc in WD40 and it will happily run.. well i know you can do it with an engine anyway and you can dip a 3 pin plug in it and hold it and plug it into a live socket and it wont touch you.. it's a much thinner liquid so it might be better for dispersing heat.. hmm idea's idea's.. super cooling WD40.. which is mostly none freezable.. ooo the idea's!!
Here we go, took a while to find it

looks a bit old school. go to xtremesystems (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums) people use LN2 all the time.
