I just installed it and it won't run....THPS2 ran fine so I expected it to be no problem....could it be a Directx 8.1 problem....?

Any suggestions.

right,

few points required. What setup do you have, harware and OS. How far does the game load and mention any error messages that occur. This would help get to the root of the problem.
