Have any of you water cooling guys got an annoying water trickling sound from your PC? Have you sussed how to get rid of it? Its quite annoying all I can hear from my pc is the PSU and a trickle noise. My W/C system comprises of the following

Black ice pro II Radiator
WaterChilll CPU Cooler
WaterChill Northbridge Cooler
Eheim 1048 pump
Danger Den HDP Reservior
1/2 tubing to the pump
10mm push fit everywhere else.

Can anyone tell me how to quieten this?
Cheers
Scott

Use a silent heatsing and fan solution? :P

Have you tried altering where the radiator, pump and resevoir are? As it could just be due to some water trickling down due to the height! But i am guessing the noise happens when it is on. Water does make a noise probably when going around the circuit.

get as much air out of the system as humanly possible.. and invert the whole system to bleed everything. air is what makes most noise i find.. if you get the air out it should be fine, if you can isolate the pump as i can't seem to manage yet.. you should get it pretty quiet :) trickling can also be caused by water resistance.. causing turbulence in the water.. check for kinks? (im prolly wrong but it's just an idea) other than that i can't think of alot else :P

Im fairly sure all the air is out as my reservior is supposed to be especially good at that.
As for kinks there is none. The reservior is in the second from top drive bay the pump is mounted on the bottom of the case. The radiator isnt mouted in the ideal place as it is in the top of my case but moving it is not an option as it was a fair mission to fit.

have you fully inverted the whole thing to move the air out of the rad?

To go with Sub, I would say as you have a mix of half inch and 10mm that you have a restriction somewhere. Water is being forced into a component through half inch and being restricted on the outfall hense a trickleing sound. Thats my guess.

if your pumps sitting on the case base try moving it a bit while pc is on to see if it effects the noise.

if it does put insulation under it

air in rad almost certainly... does it have a bleed screw on like the thermochills ?

shake the case repeatedly and it should come out eventually..

Pump is mounted on rubber mounts (thanks Brumster) so there is no noise from that.
You could be right Jellybeard but shaking my case will almost certainly mean sucking in more air when the water is sloshing about the reservoir. Do your hear any water noise from your system at all?

no - i did, but my rad has a little bleed screw, which you undo slightly, put a cloth next to it, and it removes air from the rad... works a treat...

but shaking it does not bring air in, as the air is at the top of the res... just rock the case a bit... and pinch the tbing before and after the rad, that sometiems forces air out... :)

Sorry AOD I complete over looked your post for some reason my eiheim pump comes with a smaller output size so it shouldnt be a problem..

Jelly (getting informal now) I have put a thumbnail shoeing the rough layout of my case. That is a photo from when i was installing the pump and res are now different so i have just marked them in. As you can probably see from the pic If I tip the case forward the radiator inlet/outlet will be the highest point so the air should get out but the hose tail on the resrvoir will be the highest point on it so thier will be air there. If I tip it backwards the radiator hose inlet/outlet will be at the lowest point in the rad so it looks like i could struggle.

u want to get the bottom back on the angle, and rock it back and forwards... so the res is always at the highest point....

or ideally, unscrew the res.. leaving tubing attatched, and lift it up, then shake the rest of the case..

all done carefully of course though...

Well my DD reservoir was crackedso i think i was getting air from there. I refitted my Asetek reservoir and put it at the highest point and now its ok
