A couple of weeks ago. I found out that my 2500 barton was multiplyer locked, by looking up the cpu codes.......... I dont understand. I went into the bios tonight, and changed the multiplyer. No probs at all. Ive had it at x7.5 and x11.5. I havnt done one thing to the chip......... Is it to do with the motherboard? Its rev 1.01

yup, the multi will go to 12 but, not past it, some cpu's will go 13+ , some 12-, use your fsb for o/c

I can't remember the exact numbers, but I think the earlier bartons unlocked automaticly in nforce boards, like the t-breds, then at week 24 (?) of production, they were factory locked.

It's easily possible you've got a lucky early one.

According to the chips code, (AQZFA 0335MPMW) the chip should be locked. Do you think the chip has been wrongly badged?
