Well i try not to go above 50 on load on my 2500+ @ 2Ghz (10*200), with an aerolite, it isnt a mobile tho, so you should aim for a bit lower, 45 ish?

It depends on your whole case and system config, like my mobo used to be around 28 but now it is 32, because i changed from a 6800 to a 9800pro, crazy i kno!
Processor, mine seems to go at about 38 degrees while just doing mundane tasks, like word, or listening to music. But max i have seen it with the cooler set to medium is about 52 degrees.

Basically try to get lower than 50 thats my advice :P

I’ve always tried to keep mine at about 40c idle so that when it’s crunching heavy numbers the temp doesn’t rise above that magic 50c mark. I managed to track down the Thermalright SP-97 sandblasted edition last year which I have to say is the single best heatsink I have ever owned. Anything over 55c and the processor starts to flake out which is a pain in the bum tbh  .
Common consensus is the <= 50c mark is the one to aim for if you want to keep the processor for an extended length time.

Thanks all the reason for asking is at the moment idle is about 43\44*c and full load i can sit at 38*c but i have to turn the cpu fan right up to do this and its a bit noisey but really only do it on games.
sparky_h i have same cpu mb ram as you what multi\fsb are you running at the moment i could get 130*11 but had to run the volcano maxed out to keep it cool (so no use for browsing)

200 x 12.5 @ 1.87-9v / 2.2.2.5 @ 2.6v 42/19c atm :)

TBH it’s not a very good stepping as it flakes out at 205mhz so I had to use the unlocked multi to get the speeds I wanted.

This is been swapped for a 3700+ San Diego and a DFI-DR SLI soon, this system will proberly end up as a htpc rig.

I'm confused, 130x11? What mobo do you have? That XP2500M should be flying.

My CPU temps are ~50°C at load, system ~24°C.

130*11? that is really slow for a 2500... you should be able to hit around 200 with that chip...Anyways, I have a similar rig with a Zalman CNPS-6000 and I idle around 35C, and under load it gets around 45ish, and that is with my 120mm on low...If I crank that baby up, my temps go even lower. I like to keep my CPU around 45 full load, 50C max.

This thread has been very helpeful to me, thanks.

I'm getting a skt 939 3500+ soon, will the default hsf be enough to keep it down at these temps at load?
