Who do you guys think will win on Thursday then
Not really into politics myself but i been hearing so many diff views :(
It probably wont matter who gets in, we will be taxed more one way or another and they wont keep most of their pre election promises.
Still not sure who to put my vote too though.

labour will most likely win.
i really hope they don't. blair lied to everyone in the country and i've had all i'm willing to take from that git.
i'll be voting conservative for no other reason that to get him out of power.

Just make sure you do vote. Failure to do so is dereliction of your civic duty. Labour will win. A 70 seat majority will leave them able to absorb the rebel element and still be able to pass virtually all the changes they wish to make. Tony, though a figure that creates a lot of emotion is a figure head, and most peoples objection to him is based on they way he has chosen to do things, not neccesarily what he has done. He may cost Labour about 25 seats but that can be absorbed.
Labour will win I reckon, though that's not necessarily who I am voting for. I deffo won't be voing for conservatives as all of their policies seem to consist of slagging of labour and dismissing the lib-dems. They promise to make tax cuts, but unless they have some sort of magic wand, I don't understand how they can do that without hurting public services.
I don't really trust any of them politicians but I will be voting for somebody as it's my first chance to vote.
Instead of ranting on about wars and asylum seekers, I think politicians should be talking about banning speed cameras, improving school dinners and scrapping Uni fees (that would win soooo many votes :)).

balls is it. not voting is as much a right as voting. in many cases it's preferable to abstain or spoil your vote to show your distaste in the candidates.
this week will be the first time that i have voted. i am only doing so because i feel strongly enough to do something about it, normally i wouldn't bother.

Thread moved to topical discussion.
I would merge it with other 'election' thread but can't be bothered.
Call it political apathy.

I don't particularly care, as all parties have some annoyance for me, but I won't be surprised if Labour win again (although I'll be disappointed). There are lots of reasons for and against but the whole going-to-war thing has really done it for me too. It's not necessarily a question of whether anyone will do it any better than TB, more an aspect that he should be punished for what he's done and hence why I think he should be taken out of his position ASAP.
If someone can lower my taxes and reduce the number of bloody speed cameras out there, then all the better ;) :p

labour will win : (
things is lib dem and conservative supporters have common ground, blair - get rid of him, so vote one of the other two major parties. Thing is lib dem peeps think they can win and conservatives have a chance if lib dem voters realise there loss and vote conservative.
Thing is were British and we're too proud so we'd still vote for our team regardless, meaning that Blair is back in with that nitwit Brown!
To be honest all I see when I look around my town is chavs and drunken people... very depressing and chooisng a different party means nothing to me. Peoples lives have become about drinking themselves into a stuppor until Monday morning...
p.s. sorry for the spelling =)
I'll be voting lib dems, but they won't win.
They'll get my vote though, becuase I'm so sick of the tories and labour slagging each other off.
I don't even know what they're going to do for the country, they're so intent on saying the opposition sucks.
The lib dems at least seem to be interested in sharing their intentions with us.

Nice link for an overview.
I think its going to be labour also, but thats not how I cast my vote on the way to work.

You would see voting for a party with whom you disagreee their policies and working culture better than not voting at all?
I see not voting just as much of a voting act as voting - if no parties are good enough to earn my vote, then not voting for any will indicate this. I think expecting people to vote for parties they don't agree with is wrong.
On topic, i think and kind of hope Labour will get in. I don't agree with nonsense 'diploma' GCSE's Lib Dem policy, and the Torys just talk nonsense too. Well, maybe they all do in their own lttle way.

Maybe it's best to spoil your vote by voting for multiple parties? The spolied votes are counted up and that way you register your annoyance and make sure that you are distinguished from the "can't be bothereds"
I wish they had the choice of "None of the Above". I'm willing to bet it would win quite a few seats!
defacing my voting card was something I'd considered, but the problem is it still gets you no where...
I've heard a little of the results, from what i gather labour have pretty much won?

Yep, they're in with 347 seats at time of writing.
yep, but with a far less majority than before. :)
It would appear that ~ two thirds of the country that voted don't want Labour yet they still have a majority. There's definitely something wrong with our election system.

We essentially have a 3 party system, but the only party that would change to an alternative such as proportional representation is the only party that would benefit. We go for a system that give as much power to a constituency with 400 people as one with 4000. This effectively ensures the rural areas still have a say in matters. However, a very large majority based on a strong urban vote such as Labours last Governement turns that on its head, as the pro hunting lobby found out.

Why doesn't someone form the 'None of the Above' Party then?
