is it possible to overclock a factory emachines pc its a 210 with a intel celeron 2.30 ghz cpu and when i enter the bios it wont let me i think the cpu is locked but can i unlock it
Impressive... you managed that without using any punctuation at all...
Short answer, No. If you want more speed or want to overclock, buy a real computer, not some pre-built rubbish.

Shunnyboy, You should really use some grammar in your posts. You might as well speak Chinese sometimes, lol.
yea that was a bit harsh, but if you want a proper answer, write the question in proper english.
Basicly the motherboard you have (assuming you havn't changed it yet) will be the biggest pile of poo emachines could find, it won't have any if the nessicary facilities you need to overclock, such as FSB and multiplier settings.
Even if you unlock the chip, the bios still doesn't have the settings for it anyway, so you can't change them.

im in the process of upgrading the piece of poo! lol (emachines 210) with an abit AI7 mobo, 6600 gt etc. (the motherboard doesn't even have an agp slot !) does that mean i will have problems if the cpu is locked. I want to move the cpu over to my new board to save me some money. Sorry im a noob! thanks for all the help
Nick
Unlocking the chip basicly lets you adjust the multi.
You can over clock without the multi, but it's harder to get a high FSB cos the CPU will top out long before anything else.
A high multi, like the stock, will get you a better CPU clock speed, but most people want a higher FSB, which removes the mobo's bottleneck. High FSBs need lower multis.
Still, you can allways inch the FSB up bit by bit and see how far you get.
ive got a simple answer for this..... put your rubbish out on eBay, take the money and build your own rig. If you dont like this than you can just replace the mainboard and all other things in the rig, effectively replacing the computer

errr sorry dont really see the point in that post. It dont actually help shaunboy or anyone else, it has nothing to do with the topic about overclocking and is just belittling people.
"put your rubbish out on ebay" aint really very nice to someone who has had to most likely save up or work hard to get a computer in the first place.
by the way your sig is rather big, rules are six lines max.

I gotta agree with Nick1988 on this one, it seems to be creeping into the forums more and more - someone asks a question and a 'so-called expert' has a pop at them :(
I think the simple answer is, No, not really with your current system, try what L4T3NCY has said or consider upgrading or building a new system - after all thats what kustom do ;)
also, please try and use proper english - pigeon english infuriates most folk, there's a few threads in here on the subject
