View Full Version : I Am God!!!!
So today a little bundle of joy happened to slip onto my front proch today, and this was my new heatsink and thermal paste. 20 min later they had been installed and we were checking the core temps. (I have a P4 3.4 1MB cache 800FSB Prescott core HT if you care) As it turnes out I was getting 30~45C, down from 40~55C+ So what is the one thing you can think of doing after dropping your core temps 10 degrese or more? O/C baby. Thats right I O/Cd my Prescott to 3.67Ghz Its currently running at 38~56C+ so its still well within normal operating limits. Also I have alarms set for 70C so it woulnt get too hot ;D Anyway im feeling pretty smug right now, because ive done something others have said I would be crazy to do, and Im not hurting my processer or mobo. Well now im done gloating
Cheers

Your gloat would be more productive if you actually named your before and after cooling components........

or the overclock was astounding (which it isnt)
i believe they were crash and burn comments :S
What do people expect with titles like 'I am a god' if they don't have a P4 at 5+ GHz, lol.
well as its a prescott o/cing it without melting / burning through your mother board is something to be proud of. Also Adam my old cooling was 5 80mm case fans and some intel heatsink that I got for free from Newegg. I replaced two of those 80mms with a 120mm fan and also got a Thermaltake Heatsin,
Oh also to those who are griping about my lower O/C this is temperary, once I find the Average temp over the next month for this clock im going to go somewhere in the range of 3.8Ghz+

firstly i doubt that you are God! :p 10% is pretty nominal really.. hit 4ghz and your getting somewhere. personally don't think i'd noticed the diff between 3.4 and 3.6 - six
Does it run on Prime fine?

god is reserved for one person over at Astek forums with a p4 running at 5 gig and 6 allthough the 6 isnt fully stable :p
Wow 5Ghz thats insane. However very nice. Mine is now at 3.87 and running very stable (still aircooled :D ) Anyway Im useing my machine for video / graphics editing. Gameing, and Web page design. Works well, though im at 3 G left :(
sorry to say this ctjoyce but i also doubt you are god :D
anyway keep going for a higher overclock, get to the 4ghz level and we'll really respect you ;)
