View Full Version : New HDD
Ok so ive got some money on my hands and Ive been noticing that Shela's HDD is getting a little full, this is an easy fix get a new HDD. So now comes the question. I know that i need SATA, however there are two types SATA-100 and SATA-150. Does it matter which I use. Not sure what the current one is, however I can look it up if you need. I was going to go with WD (personal byass) and I was thinking of getting a 80G (this would be where I would put all my music as I am a DJ for events like partys and weddings) anyway get back to me on this, cus I can only take looking at this "Free space=3.5%" Marker for so long.
I thought SATA 150 was SATA, and 133 and 100 were UltraDMA and the rest.

You don't "need" to buy SATA - coz your mobo will also accept standard IDE drives as well... but SATA would be the better option - not least because many are already slightly cheaper than their IDE counterparts ;)

As Kye has suggested... SATA is [currently] 150 only. Standard IDE drives however, are available in ATA 100 (most) +/or ATA 133 (Maxtor drives) ;)
thanks for the info guys. I ended up with another Western Digital 160G SATA (for a total of 240G) and the space issue is solved
