Asus GeoForce AGP-V7100 Pure 32Mb MX - Problems!

Help....

I'm having a few problems with my gfx card (I think)...it all started when I install nvidia's 12.41 drivers.

I couldn't run Colin McRae 2 (kept freezing just as I clicked race) and Half Life froze whilst loading from options screen.

I have uninstalled the nvidia drivers and reinstalled the asus (6.31b) drivers but the problems were still there.

I just installed the latest asus drivers (11.01c) and the problem's still there.

CMR2 was running with the 1.09 patch
HL was running 1106 (I think)

I was all running fine 'til the nvidia driver install.

Try using different drivers, nvidia,6.50s,10.80s,etc.

get an app called nvcleaner, and totally remove the driver
then re install the 6.50 drivers, they're the only ones that work with everything

Just found it via some italian web forum version 1.4...let you know how I get on.

Not very well...used the nvcleaner ver1.4 found all the crap etc. in the registry but it was unable to delete it...all the files it listed it "cannot delete"...a little further investigation (showing all files in explorer) none of the files nvcleaner mentioned exsisted, so it lokks like I have to clear the registry only...any good software to do that out there?

um, regedit...

if you`ve only done this within the past few days, boot your computer pressing f8 and choose command prompt only

then type `scanreg` [return]

and choose to restore a registry from a few days ago - that might just bail you out

I was trying to be lazy and hoping some one had written a wee piece of code to save me time...fingers crossed I hope scanreg can go back a few days, Thursday was an aokay day before the wrath of 12.41 was upon me....scanreg restore it is...cheers G

I'm at work at the mo, but does scanreg only backup the last 5 reboots?...'cos I've done about 80 reboots this weekend alone...will see what's backup when I gets home.

you`re right it does take 5 backups, but only 1 every day, so you should be able to back to wednesday or thursday

Just done it - seems to be working fine now with the Asus 6.31b drivers installed. Might try the 6.5's tomorrow if I am feeling brave.

Tip: In Windows ME just click on the MS Dos Prompt icon in Accessories and type scanreg /restore , you then get a dialog taking you through the registry restore and then it restarts the machine for you, at last something good about ME, NOT!
