I'd have 2 FOH sets, one set of monitors... deafen the audience, not the band :p
Otherwise.. ask the band, see what they want?
Why not just see how it sounds at the soundcheck? With the amount of gigs i've run and setup, i've learnt one thing. Never assume how its gonna sound till you set it up
Until you actually start sound checking, you really cant tell how many monitors you'll need. The size of the stage, the open area behind the band etc, it all makes so much difference..

Yup.. well most the time I have access to 4 FOH & 4 monitors. Well it's tonight and at the moment looks like i'm going to have to build the stage, sound and light rig! :o cuz i've just found out that the person organising the event just assumed that these would get sorted. Time to start phoning people :D - six
Well, good luck mate. If i was any closer to ya, i'd come help :p

well... went for 2 FOH 4monitors in the end!.. still managed to hit 107db :D fortunatly i always where ear defenders. Was a really good evening. No technical hitches.. cept the light desk not playing.. and having to use manual controls!.. but that aint nothing to do with me  unfortunatly all the stage crew seemed to have disappeared today.. so spend 3hrs taking down the stage, sound and light rig on my own.. ache all over now! :o
