I'm in the same boat as Dunc. But I would have voted for a... "no, it was a cynical, publicity grabbing, back slapping, cheese fest and the single made me actually physically sick. Could those poor people be anymore patronized? Do they know it's Christmas time? No, they mostly don't have Christmas in Africa due to religious differences you floppy haired soap dodging idiots”... option.
Live aid was crap. Patronising crap at that.
Dom has summed it up completely
Totally agree. Although yes the money raised was very good etc, the recent tsunami has shown you can get the public to donate in huge quantities, without stroking the ego's of a bunch of ridiculous looking pop stars first. Going back and watching it now, and seeing all those self serving arseholes talk about how much they care is just sickening.
Same goes for the recent effort as well as far as I'm concerned. The stuff with that idiot Bono crying about not getting his line summed up perfectly the whole thing. The artists are in it for their own personal gain and very little else.

and Phil Collins flew concorde to get on both sides of atlantic. Honestly who would even want to see Phil Collins, as for concert never seen the whole thing seen excerpts but the lineup didnt really grab me. Aside from Queen and Dire Straits i probably would have went home.

There's no such thing, if you wanted a straight answer you shouldn't post 'cos people will post their opinions aswell.

For what it's worth Toryboy, I reckon (No, I know) the best gig I was ever at was U2 Zoorpa tour at Wembly 1992. I can't see it EVER being equalled for me...
You prolly had to be there to know what I mean. If not, take a look at U2's Zoorpa Live in Sydney from the same year, it was an IDENTICAL set.
