View Full Version : default drive letters
ok i used 2 hard drives on the primary IDE and a DVD drive and a CDRW drive on the secondary
setup like
Primary 0 = WDC 120Gb
Primary 1 = WDC 80Gb
Secondary 0 = DVD Rom
Secondary 1 = CDRW
but, the 120 hard drive goes to default drive letter F: the 80 goes to C:
and the cd drives go D: and E:... it's done it on 2 systems so far.. how come it does that? why is the 120 not C: or have i set it up wrong?

EDIT : Eureka, ive got it...
Control Panel > Admini Tools > Computer Management > Storage > Disk Management
and you can edit all the drive letters there as much as you want, so have fun1
thanks for that, but i can't change the drive letter of the boot or system drive :(
I don't think you can. At least not while the system is running.

i think that 'boot magic' allows you to change the primary drive letter.. i have the same problem with my C: being called D: ! right pain.. will change it someday cuz it drives me nuts! - six
Out of interest, why do you have them set up like that?
Wouldn't
PM HD
PS DVD-ROM
SM HD
SS CD-RW
be better?
