Hey guys, I have a PC that already runs very very quietly, but I'd like to make it run a little cooler if possible. My case is the CM 210 with the ever so delightful (HA!) windows with 'Coolermaster' etched into it. I'm thinking of it as a possibility to remove this window and fit a big piece of mesh over it instead to allow loads of cool air to be drawn into the case. I've got a couple of questions with regards to this...
Firstly, the current window seems to be glued on... is there any easy way of taking this off... I don't particularly want to break the acrylic. Also, is mesh cheap and I guess it's the sort of thing I can get from any good DIY store? And one more, glueing the mesh would be the best way to attach it, but what sort of glue should I use? I've never done any modding to this extent before so be gently!
Many thanks for your time,
Michael.
http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/Kustom_PCs_Shop_Trim___Edgings_64.html towards the bottom of the page. its not mesh as such but it has lots of holes in :)
You could get mesh from Homebase for example, they stock various different sizes of it, but possibly none small enough for what you are looking for. I imagine B&Q and Focus are no different. Costs you nothing to go down and look and see.
As for gluing it on, I don't see glue giving you great adhesion, silicone may do it better - would look awful inside the case, but fine from the outside. You could try putting silicone on, pressing the mesh down into it to get it flat and flush, and then putting masking tape right around it to hold it tight to the side of the case, then removing the masking tape once it's set. No idea how that'd do though.

I know one or two folks who are using perforated aluminium - or something similar Cool_Dude, and... whilst it might mean they have to blow out the dust/clean the interior a bit more regularly than they normally would... that's a price they're happy to pay for using something different to a standard window ;)
It's up to the individual to decide whether it's worth it or not, and that's undoubtedly why Kustom stock/sell it :D
As for what's best to use to attach mesh Michael... email the guys to ask what they recommend - or use themselves on system builds in which the Kustomer has asked for a mesh window ;)

Thanks for that Fireblade. I'm hoping dust wont be too much of a problem in my case as I wont have any moving parts to suck dust into the case if I have a mesh side panel!
