Would probably have to setup a network so the 2 computers could 'speak' to each other. Then in whichever game you are playing it should have 'Lan' then do what you need to do
how do i set up a network.
does anyone have some step by step instructions on how do this??
thanks

Got to control Panel > Network Setup Wizard > Follow the instructions on screen :)
but it will work ok on a router?

Dont have much experience with routers sorry.
well, tbh it should work straight away if you just plug em both in...
are they new machines?
ona fresh install of windows, from my experience it works every time...
if not youll need to mess about with setting etc..
I've never many problems with setting up LANs through my router
its the pc im using now and a brand new pc.
the new pc spec is:
Acer T120E Desktop AMD Sempron 2600+ 40GB 256MB DVD-Rom Modem Lan Card Reader Speakers keyboard Mouse Windows XP Home
so i should just plug them into the router and just strat the game up and it will be there under lan?

Well i'd see what happens first!.. then if you can get communication run the network setup wizard on XP; this'll make a file you can then run on your other PC and will set them up on the same IP address band 192.168.0.xx most the time! - six

Pssst... MR CMH. It really isn't difficult at all (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&q=Setting+up+a+LAN&btnG=Search&meta=)
Remember if you are going to setup a network, you will have to make a few changes to any firewall software you may be running. On each PC you will have to set the firewall to trust the IP address of the other PC (or allow specific ports, but thats being really security conscious!)
Cheers
