I have had my SB83G5 for some time now and i'm very happy with the results but now ive put my mod head on and it's time to play. Im always reading on the mod/overclocking topics but have never really put the to practice. Right now i'm looking to quiet down my machine with it being cooled that little bit better than stock.
The most noise is being generated from my ATI X300 PCI-E Graphics Card so i'm looking for a new source of cooling the card, sadly passive is out because of the sound card in the PCI slot (I believe the slot needs to be empty for passive? maybe im wrong)
The rear stock I.C.E. fan is not too bad when it's running under normal loads but i'm going to replace it with a 92mm AcoustiFan which i've been told is ideal for shuttles and it's very quiet, maybe there's a better fan than this? can you recommend one?
And for the Northbridge, i've seen alot of peeps going with the Zalman heatsink, is this a good option? if it is will it be simple to fit or will it need abit of a mod?
As for the case itself well im going to mod it so theres a window on the GFX side and a mesh wall on the PSU side, im still in debate as to adding a Blow Hole or doing one of these mods where an extra fan is fitted to the rear of the case (outiside) after removing the grill. what do you thing.
Just remembered. Would it be worth it to change the two PSU fans for quieter ones. it's not that there loud but I know every little bit helps.
