When i had my old 9200 i installed Unreal 2, Unreal Tournament 2003 and 2004. which was a none dx9 card.. i had a problem with the projectors in that whenever they are on, a box apears around the object and then the terain around that box goes black, the shadow works, looks fine but a box always apears around everything that has a projector shadow applied to it...

recently i got a 9800 and i still have the same problem?
i read somwhere about forcing the game to OpenGl, which i tried, and loads of D3D things are missing, and there is only blob shadows.
when i try forcing the "DX9 device" when i start it says error no dx9 device or somthing. so i set it to normal and it still has these stupid boxes around everything, it does it in all variants of the Unreal 2 engine'd games...
i can't find anything on any search engine about it.. it's annoying because the system can handle it piece of cake but the projectors are naxed.

should i remove them all and re-install the whole lot?
i tried many different omega drivers, sofmod drivers, and default ati, and it still does it :S

any help would be great, thanks alot

I've got a 9800 pro gfx card too, find that if you tweak the settings in the ATI Catalyst some games dont like it. Keep everything set to defaults in there and see if that makes a difference. Your card will support OpenGL so cant see any reason for it not to work. I had the same problems with Battlefield Vietnam a while ago. Thats when I found out to leave the settings in the catalyst alone!

Worth a try...

If you have tried changing the settings and drivers and its not working, i would archive your save games, and reinstall the game.

hmm ok, i'll get hold of it off my mate again and install it. it works in opengl just not as nice as in d3d. i will change catalyst to defaults see if that works. doe anyone know what the "alternate pixel centre" does? as it always seems to be off when i install drivers...
