I just bought these discs (along with the Jimmy Eat World - Futures CD, but I mentioned that in the thread for it).
Anyone heard these/bought them? What are your views?
I must say, I'm quite pleased with all of them. I've decided to write little reviews to show what I think of them :D
STAIND - 14 SHADES OF GREY:
I didn't hold up much hope for this album, and I feared it may just be a boring disc with sub-standard tracks on it, but instead it's quite a good disc! All of the songs are just as good as, if not better than the B-sides on the Price To Play CDS. I especially like So Far Away and How About You? Ironically, the worst song on the CD is the one I bought the single of a while back (Price to Play). There's not a track on the CD that manages to let it down.
BILLY TALENT - BILLY TALENT:
I felt mixed about buying this CD - Would it be just a bunch of screaming like there was on the River Below DVS B-Sides? Thankfully not. Definately a good CD, if not slightly weird - some of the lyrics really are strange. I've chosen not to question them though :p The songs are the definately up to the standard of The River Below, but don't hold your breath if you're expecting something phenominally better IMO. Definately a good buy though, and minimal pointless screaming - which brings me on to...
BIFFY CLYRO - INFINITY LAND:
Having not known this band and hating them when I saw them live back in September '03, it's quite unusual for me to buy their album, but I heard/saw their latest track on Kerrang! and was thoroughly impressed with it, definately an improvement from the racket I got when I heard them live. This CD's not too bad, although there's alot of screaming/blood curdling war cries that really let the disc down! It's a shame, because the songs would have been pretty good if it weren't for the screaming. Worth a buy if only for My Recovery Injection and Some Kind Of Wizard.
