I've got a problem. All the games I play require Direct3D, and Direct3D isn't working. how do I fix this problem?

i would re-install the latest driver as a start point.

I did, several times. And the same thing happens, all the time.
ok...
how about re-installing directx?
whan you installed the vid driver did you totally erase the older driver or did you just run it on top?

i would get it direct from microsoft...

that is the exact same thing i have been installing, and reinstalling. but still the same thing happens.
do you know of a e-mail address or a number i can call for tech support?
you will get the buck passed... and you will not get an answer today...
try microsoft, try the ati support, try your computer supplier.
they will all blame someone else but you might get a knowledgable techie.
bit out of my league really this as i dont do gaming... ask me about cutting holes or setting up a 2k3 server no worries...
hope you get it sorted...
anone else got any ideas?
Could try borrowing another video card (preferably a different make) uninstall drivers, and put on the new ones for the new card.
See of it works, then do the saem thing again, but put in your old card, and see if you still have the same problem...

I'd suggest uninstalling the drivers again (make sure you uninstall the ATI Control Panel as well)... reboot... install the latest drivers (http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/winxp/radeonwdm-xp.html?type=xp&prodType=graphic&prod=productsXPdriver&submit.x=15&submit.y=8) and DirectX 9.0c, and reboot again.

fireblade: its just so crazy it might work...
thanks! if the problems still continue, I'll tell you guys. thanks again for the help.
Try using Driver Cleaner (http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=745).
