Hey all, picked up a 9700 Pro to go in my Shuttle SK41. I've installed it, and i've plugged in the floppy connector that is on the same cable as the molex for the rom drive, but since then it seems the rom is 'struggling' for want of a better word. It wouldn't read a CDRW that i burnt the Omega drivers onto, and takes a while to read a CD-R as well, surely a 9700 Pro doesn't suck enough juice to cause this sort of a problem?, although i am currently running the standard Enhance 200w PSU...

Tried the CDRW in another comp to make sure it works?

Its been working fine in this one mate (its only been used for 6/8 hours, its brand new!) up until i installed the 9700. I just couldn't see the gfx card needing enough power to cause the problems i'm getting?. Or is the standard Enhance PSU really that pants...
:D

It's a bit strange that the PSU can't handle it because they're pretty damn good. Do you have a spare ATX PSU you could try?

Got one but it doesn't have the extra 4 pin plug needed for the mobo :(. Will try my spare dvd drive and see what happens, bloody strange it starts doing this now though...

You only need to power the CDRW from the spare ATX psu though, not the motherboard.

You will need to short 2 pins to make it power up without a motherboard connected (google for pin colour), either that or drag it next to your main rig in your sig.

on a standard atx psu it's the green wire that you need to connect to one of the black ones next to it...
