View Full Version : ICS on win 98se-help plz
I have setup ICS on the second computer downstairs so that I can connect the xbox to live downstairs when mates come round etc (as my room is small) but when I connect online I get 'this page cannot be displayed' also on the connection sharing box theres an option of 'connect to the internet using' with a drop down box with only one option and that option being 'dial-up adapter' I'm convinced that's the problem as I'm using broadband only there's no option to select I'm using an ADSL adapter.
This is probably a long shot seeing as 98se is ancient now but any help atall would be fully appreciated.
Its been so long since i last even looked at windows 98 that ive forgotten that it even had a ICS feature
hmmmmmmmmmm, how are the PC's and xbox networked?
they are not networked as of yet, the xbxo is usualy in my room and i connect to that with my netgear modem/router.
SO am i right in thinking:
PC > ADSL Router > Internet
XBox connects directly to the ADSL Router?

Well yeh, but I want to be able to connect it downstairs to the old pc which currently has win98se on it, for occaisonal play.
So on the 98SE computer you get Page Not Found? And the network isn't connected? I see a pattern here...
Besides, if the network stuff isn't installed then that's why there isn't anything except your 56k modem in the drop down box...?
Well I know the usb modem worked perfectly before I installed ICS, when I click connect on the desktop, it connects as usual and says connected at x bps but it doesn't seem to be getting through to Internet explorer.
