Abit AV8 A64 939 Mobo...what psu???

I need help...!

Basically i need a good psu. 450w+. ive got a tagan 480 but have had probs since day one, only had my rig for bout 2 months..psu never worked, and this is my second tagen psu ive tried...the company says i can change it for something else...but what?

can anyone who has this Motherboard tell me what psu they use?

i've got a jeantect 450W 120mm psu and its fine, got all the connects (most i dont need) and its silent on low and bearly noticeable on high. they go up to 500w

I use the SuperFlower range of PSU's. Thermally controlled fans and on lowest speed quiet as a mouse (for 4 fans this is something that really drew me to them). The 550W version I have in the rig in my sig gives out plenty of juice and still has more then enough left to power more devices should I need them.

what problems have you had with the tagan? Mine has been running fine, and its regarded as probably the best PSu around!

yeh i know its been rated great everywhere, but i just cant get it to work, this is my second one, i just cant get no power from it :mad:

I would suggest the antec neopower 480.


It sounds like there is another problem with your setup, causing the psu to bomb out... When you say ' i just cant get no power from it' do you mean it is dead and not working at all or are you saying that under load it falls over?

oh, and the antec was better rated in the custompc mag test, it only lost marks for being more expensive....

i dont understand if its something im doing wrong or what? you reckon its worth me taking it somewhere 2 test it out...but its all money money money. i can return it and swap it thats no prob, and 2 be fair i wudnt mind getting an antec neo power but i dnt wana go thru all that hassle again for it not 2 work! HELP....what should i do?? :(

Do you have a spare rig to test the PSU on or perhaps a friends machine? I have had my Tagan for ages but I just got a PCP+C 510w Dlx cos of adjust pots etc but my Tagan was great.

What exactly happens. Do you get any board LEDs or does it power up and power off? Test the PSU by adding a fan or old hdd/cd to a molex connect it to the mains and add a small piece of wire between pins 3 and 4 on the top row as shown in this thread
