Hey, wondering if anybody could help me. Like many others windows decided to download and install SP2, not that I really cared or took much notice, but after SP2 was installed my CD-RW refused to read anything.
I noticed that the drive was reading cd's in PIO mode. I thought that maybe if i changed it to read in DMA mode it might fix the problem but I still had the same problem of the drive reading nothing.
Then I tried changing the cable from the 80 pin to the 40; to no sucess.
Thirdly I changed the whole cd drive to my Optorite DVD drive which had the same problem.
I looked up the windows database on their website and it seemed that other people were having these problems but there wasn't a solid answer for how to fix it.
I thought that changing the administrator rights might fix it but I haven't got round to that yet.
(BTW, both my cd-rw drive- The Aopen and the Optorite were working fine until SP2 was installed)
I would welcome any help as I'm rather annoyed atm. Thanks.
