Gonna build my own system, never done this before so it's going to be a bit of a learning curve. I was thinking of somthing along the lines of...

MSI K8N Neo4 Diamond nForce4 SLi (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard Corsair 1GB DDR XMS3200XL Platinum TwinX (2x512MB) CAS2
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Winchester 90nm (Socket 939)
MSI NX6600GT-TD128E GeForce PCX6600 GT 128MB DDR3 TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express)
Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 200GB SATA 8MB Cache - OEM
MSI D16 16x DVD-ROM - Retail
MSI DR16-B 16x DVD±R/±RW Dual Layer ReWriter
Coolermaster Cavalier 1
Tagan TG480-U01 480W Silent PSU

Money is not really an issue (did I just say that ;) ) but I don't want a vastly expensive system, a balence between performance and cost is sought. I am quite hung up on a AMD 64 though.

Any suggestions, ideas or problems you can see with this spec I'd be greatful for the input...

If you are having PCI-E then I wouldn't bother with the 6600GT for a mid-range card... 6600GTs are the best mid range card for AGP, but PCI-E I would look at the ATI X700 range, which is available in 256mb aswell. Sound card... I have an Audigy 2, around £50, and combined with my 250Ds the THX quality sound is quite nice.

Not sure if a single 200GB SATA drive is inkeeping with the rest of your system also. I would personally experiment with some 10,000rpm drives in RAID stripe... but I guess that is 1) just me and 2) depending on how much you have to spend?
