I have installed the system and so far everything appears to be in order. I haven't as yet connected the front USB ports. I have looked at my board manual (Abit KA7-100) and their is a USB2 header for extra ports. However the wires in the Lian-Li for the front USB ports x4 don't match the pins on the motherboard. Their are to many wires for the number of pins. I have looked at the spec sheet that came with the Lian-Li but can't make any sense of it. I figure that I may need to buy an Abit USB port extender - or do I ?

I'm baffled... can anyone help ?

Also, not having used a system before with so many fans and a blowhole, the system is fairly noisey, especially the top blowhole. I guess I may have to make a baybus my next mod so that I can control the speed of the blowhole and cut down the noise a little.

yeah I had a similar problem just that 2 pins on the MB header are not connected - first 2 or last 2 depends on the pinouts.

Thanks Graeme,

I did have a look again at the mb and manual and I have a USB header with 8 pins. Each USB cable on the Lian-Li has 4 pins so I guess I can only connect 2 out of the 4 front USB sockets. I did try the connect them but had no luck getting it to work. I tried the cables a few different ways - bit the board isn't clearly marked and although I can locate pin 1 on the usb header - I can't figure out the connections.

my USB2 header on the Abit KA7-100 is as follows :

pin layout :

1
....
....

8 Pins with pin 1 marked as above. Tell me is pin 2 next to pin 1 on the left on is pin 2 below pin 1 - if I knew this, then I would beable to follow the pattern. The manual isn't much help at all with this.

Raymond.

Hey Dotcom,

Had a look at this 2day - problem is, we don`t have any KA7`s here anymore :(

Had a look at a KT7 but it has 10 pins instead of 8 - but certainly in reference to your diagram, with the KT7 pin2 would be below pin1... I can only assume that the layout is similar with the KA7...
