What kind of speaker setup do you think is best for movies?
Plain vanilla stereo?
2.1?
4.1?
5.1?
7.1?
Ah well, the answer is none of the above....according to the chaps at Pioneer who have released the PDSP-1 which is, wait for it, 254.1
http://www.avland.co.uk/pioneer/pdsp1/withplasmalrg.jpg
Well I think it's .1 as I believe there's a sub in there somewhere.
£25,000 over at AVland if you're interested (and that doesn't include the plasma ;) )
Someone will buy them I'm sure.....there's one born every minute. :)
EDIT: On further reading it appears this is fairly old news.....but it's so daft I'll leave it here :o
but surely if its 254.1 that means its like 36 times better that 7.1!!!!!!1!1!
woah....
That doesn't look hangover friendly to me
no, id be afraid to turn that on i case the bees that lived in it attacked me ;/
seems a tad expensive.. eeeek
you could probably buy a whole cinema instead. better experience :D

wow really expensive, just buy a projector and paint a wall white thats much easier
its the sound compartment
plasma isnt even included
it works by projecting sound from the each od the holes to different parts of the room effectively giving an amazing surround sound experience, and also an amazing price
is this right, i read about it ages ago

when it costs 25k, looks are just as important i spose!
:D
You could take that 25k, and buy a decent hifi like a Naim or something insted, that get sound that's a million times better than those little things.
Little speakers and a sub are good on computers, but that's it.

Is it me or is that completely pointless as all the speakers are directly in front of you?
it has some sorta system where it projects all the sound to give you an 'amazing surround sound experiance, hard to explain, but at that price it really has to be good

I worked as a salesman, the line "at this price it has to be good" featured heavily in vocabulary. Buy this £180 8 gang power adapter, it'll give you beter video and sound quality.
Realy?
Well at £180 it has to be good.
I'll take 2.
Cha ching thats £40 commission thankyou very much.
Price doesn't reflect quality. I bought a sokda, it was dirt cheap but it's the same as the vw polo. I could have bought a tvr, then i'd be sitting on the hardshoulder waiting for recovery :D

... in a car named after a bloke called trevor :)

Exactly, it's not surround sound which is kinda the point of having more than 2.1 in the first place?

and whats the point enless its mixed in 251.1....
and surly you have to have a perfectly shaped room, to create surrond sound from reflections.
I think the highest things are mixed in is 7.1.
It obvisly just guess's, and expands the stereo image.......
Get 5 Dynaudio BM5's, and the DynAudio Air sub....

the next big leap planned will be 13.1 if i remember right... this includes ceiling mounted speakers aswell... to create a 3d space rather than 2d.. great for war movies ect with planes flying over et al! - six
