'Sno fair!! I had a 1.6A P4 happily overclocking to 2.13 on my crappy Aopen micro board and thought... let's put in a 2.0A and overclock to 2.66!!!!!!!!!!!
Set the FSB to 133, re-booted - and f*%$ all happens.
Manage to get it to 2.3GHz but the RAM isn't at the right speed - too slow! Decide to see what I get at 2.3GHz on 3D MArk 2001 - half way through - BSOD
I should have kept the 1.6 - sniff! :(

Unfortunatly, with the higher multipliers on the faaster P4a's the likelyhood of getting a good & stable overclock without some serious tweaking & cooling is slim. The 1.6a are the 'new' Celeron 300's of the Intel brand.

Little problem - i have a P4 1.6A w/ the retail heatsink/fan and at stock speed, the idle temp is 57 C, at load its going up to 66-68 C. this seems a bit high - readings are taken from Sandra...

any ideas? inaccurate readings from Sandra? inaccurate measurements from motherboard (its a mATX Gigabyte GA-8IRM) or better cooling required?

Later today, i will clean and re-apply another coat of AS II...

To be honest, i am thinking of getting the Zalman Flower P4 cooler...

dont use sandra for temps

it can be up to 15 - 20 degrees to high!
