I was running Windows XP with no updates, until I was prompted to install the downloaded updates for windows. So I did that, and restarted my computer, but unfortunately nothing is showing up on my monitor. Windows isn't booting up, and my monitor reads no input signal. I tried switching the monitors hoping that was the problem, but with no luck.
can you get into the bios? if you can try an xp repair

I'll try to run bios, but I don't think I will be able to. The monitor isn't getting any info from the computer.

I attempted to run bios a few times, but with no success.

I don't think its a hardware problem, because my dad said that he had that problem at work as well. I think the easiest thing to do would be to just reset the hard drive. It is a new build so I don't have anything important on it. Another possibility maybe to reinstall windows and overwrite the updates that I just installed. In both cases, I don't know how to do either without a monitor displaying anything.
if you cant get into the bios, you wont be able to reinstall anything. a moniter would work if the hardware was fine, its not affected by whats on your harddrive when you enter the bios.

What about resetting the hard drive? Is that possible without being able to run bios? I want to make sure its a hardware problem before I start playing around with stuff.
Disconnect the hard drive and then boot the pc up, if it is a hardware problem then you still shouldnt get any signal from the monitor.
Sounds like the GFX card or RAM need checking to me, are you getting any beep codes?.

I disconnected the hard drive, and tried booting the monitor. The monitor is still getting no signal from the computer. I am not getting any beep codes. The windows install must have caused some hardware trouble, because this rig is like 3 weeks old, and has completely new parts. They were all working before. I don't really have any money so purchasing new parts is out of the question. Another problem caused by windows.
It isnt windows fault, it cant exactly do anything to your hardware.
Try reseating your Graphics card and go over all the connections inside the pc to make sure everything is located correctly.
i dont understand why people blame windows for hardware problems. widows is software, its jsut Ones and Zeros. it cant take a hammer to your computer lol.
if its a new build like you say its probably a faulty coonection or damaged hardware
i had the same problem with the update,i unplugged my power lead from the monitor and plugged in again and i could get a display again.
