mcafee anti virus where ?

hi

i just diwnloaded mcafee anti virus version 7 ( i know its old but i need some protection ) and when i load it up it closes itself after about 5 seconds. it does the same with nortons 2004 aswell.

does anyone know how i can fix it?

Downloaded as in bought....or downloaded as in file-sharing download?

download as in file sharing but the mortons i bought from the shop and when i insatall it, it just closes it self down.

you probably have a virus thats shutting it down.

use online scanner one called housecall or think mcafe do one too but dont know name :)

yeh try Trend micro's Housecall to see if this picks up anything.
Also usually you can do a scan before the antivirus software installs i know Norton can, but depending on how old the IDEs are it might not be able to do anything with a later virus.

i just did house call and it found but they are uncleanable. with norton does it delete them if you do it whilst before it installs?

my norton did that once..i did the trend micro house call...found viruses but wouldnt remove them..then i tried norton..found a virus...wouldnt clean them i clicked remove and it kept coming up saying found...w32.blah blah..wotever

someone told me to try mcafees stinger file..its meant for about 42 different viruses..i dont know which virus youve got but if its any on the list (like mine was) it gets rid of them!

i just did housecall and instead of clicking clean i clicked delete and now i have nortons 2004.
