this drive is 4x dual layer ..but is it 16x - / + ????
my 107 may be due for replace if its bot 16x .....only 1 month old
4x DVD+R DL Double Layer burning
16x max. DVD+R/-R burning
4x max. DVD+RW/-RW burning
40x max. CD-R & 32x max. CD-RW burning
is it worth replacing a pioneer 107
Well, the 107 doesn't support dual layer DVDs, so if you need a dual layer burner now (bearing in mind the cost of the media) then get a 108, otherwise I'd wait for the price to come down.

Does the replacement have t' be a Pioneer? You can get the (dual-layer) 16x NEC 3500A (in either silver or black) for around the £60 mark - which ain't much more than is still being asked for some 8x DVD writers!
How much of an improvement would there be on a 108 over a 106 burning DVD-R?
108 are going for about 60quid ex p&p but would still be about 65ish inc p&p
gutted since just payed 50 for a 107 about a month ago :(
