Hi everyone,

OK I am trying to overclock my CPU a little, not by much , just a wee bit faster, but don't want to sacrifice stabilty.

I have increased the voltage from 1.7 to 1.8v (is this enough)?

And the FSB from 133 to 150 is that too much?

I have heard that the 1700+ is good for 1.8gigs, with watercooling (no thanks) :)

It seems to be very stable, and temp is between 37 and 39c average 38.

Not sure what the fan speed is, can't find it in the bios.. Buts its a volcano 7 so it adjusts itsself..

fsb @ 150 is excellent - keep an eye on your temps tho'

This was surfing the web with broadband and doin some design work in photoshop, so not really stressing it, but it was consistant heat :D

Why didn't you try it without increasing the core voltage?
If it runs stable at the standard voltage it's going to be cooler :)

I got 1680Mhz from an XP1600 (1400Mhz)stable simply by increasing the fsb to 160!

no voltage increase at all btw my temps r 39C (processor) and 30 (mobo) which is quite weird i thought. Increasing the fsb seems to affect the mobo temp more than the cpu.

Hi all, first post here.

Action Man,

Your temps are fine, dont worry about that, buddy.
In fact at a fsb of 150 you should safely be able to run the system at stock voltages.
Insteadf, letīs see how high you can run your fsb.
Just go up on the fsb by 2 or 3 knots at a time, not more.
If 150 is safe, go up to 153 and run a program called Prime 95. Run the torture test for 20 minuites. If ok, then you can safely go up 2 or 3 knots more.
If you keep it at only a few knots at a time, you dont have to reset cmos just because you raised the fsb to abnormal and the pc wont boot.
After 160, it is time to go up on the cpu voltage a knot or 2. Check your +5v line on the psu, as you dont want that to be much lower than 4.9 at load.

Hope this helps,

Cheers!

Marcus

PS: To the mods, Is there a person who works at Custom that has a dad called Tom?
If so, i met him at Mauritius, Nice guy!
