hi guys with an athlon xp 1700 what fsb speed should it be set too. The auto set up thingy on my mobo set it to 133mhz, I thought that it was 233mhz. But I don't wanna overclock it if its gonna blow up my darn system.
How can you bench mark it? Is there some software?

133 is correct :D even for a ddr mobo

so if you increasing that is overclocking (i know duh), but to how much? 150? 233? :D

with ddr mem and mobos memory is fetched twice in one cycle - this gives u a theoretical throughput of 266 ie 133*2

If u increase the fsb to say 150 then this would give 150*2=300 but u need good quality dimms for this!

yes I think the ram is samsung or twinmoss is that good?

I just used the auto overclock thingy on the mobo and it increased it from 133.3 to 148.mhz is that good? How can I checck it, is there any software you can download?

and so if my 1700xp is 1.4 ghz or what ever does this affect that or just the fsb?
