PC in my sig my main machine when im using it lately it has been sort of laggin in use. Like moving the mouse theres a sort of millisecond where it pauses. Happens during movies and listenin to mp3 as well but lasts for about a second or two and then returns to normal.

Could it be a power issue, sometimes my usb adsl bt modem craps out and i thought that this could be an issue with sync regarding power and thats why connection crashes. Not sure if the machine in my sig now is up to date

its dual xeons and at moment they are at 3.4.
1gb ddr pc3200
3x 160gb hdds
1x 120gb

2x dvdrws
audigy platinum
9800xt
antec true power 430w

not sure if it is a power prob or not but if it is. is it a mains power problem or is it a psu problem.

The pc doesnt cut out or anyhting though.

have you made sure you dont have anything evil running in the background, run a spyware and virus scan anyway just incase.

dual xeons hrmf what is the cpu % when this happens? open task manager and test it and watch if the cpu load jumps.

ye i aint got single piece of spyware on machine i do it regularly.
It hasnt happened since last night again...its kinda weird.
Although it was pretty terrible last night, mp3s were stuttering all time and so was mouse movement. I restarted and it was fine I think it stemmed from I was watching a DVD and PowerDVD just froze and my dvdrw didnt like the disc (an original btw not a scratch on it) I think it was down to the protection on disc or something.

Are you running the latest chipset drivers?

Are the hard drives and optical drives both set to DMA (the drives can sometimes be flicked back to PIO mode after a nasty reset or certain OS/software updates)? I've seen drives in PIO mode slow PC's to a complete and utter unusable crawl.

What's task manager saying about all of this? I keep it minimised in the system tray all the time.

everything is DMA, PC is runnin fine apart from when that happens sometimes.

Its not as bad as it was last night though.

Task manager nothing suspicious in there

2% cpu usage, 35 processes. 300mb in ram

got 3 torrents running and winamp on. NAV in background running as well and spy sweeper.

PCs working fine the now, just weird.

chipset drivers am not sure I think I am, i have latest bios anyway.
