View Full Version : 1Gig Athlon
Hey alls, just askin for a lil bit of support before i get my pencil out, do all four L1 bridges need to be linked to unlock it? i was fully going ahead then a mate said, nah think its just two whereas everyone else rekons its four, whatcha think? While i'm at it, does anyone know what the default voltage for this chip should be? I can only get it to go upto 1.08 gig with the FSB before she won't boot and i'm guessing thats due to the voltage but i dont know what the voltage is as standard before i can wind it up further, she's being pretty cool atm 41degrees C under full load, 39 at idle and can go lower.
Thanks

I have only managed to unlock a T-Bird by linking all 4 L1 bridges.

Yep it's all 4 L1 bridges. Check this Link (http://www4.tomshardware.com/howto/00q3/000808/a7v-01.html) for a guide. & you might want to do your own research before going ahead. Good luck!
Yeh i pretty much researched it for a month or two, checked on every site i came across, everything from bit to procooling to all the sites to make sure it'd be fine, but no one has ever done a 1 gig athlon, only tbirds. I can't afford my watercooling rig atm which is really annoying me as i know exactly what i want and have it all planned on fitting, and what a setup it'll be! Maze 3 block, Eheim 1250 pump, Black Ice Xtreme rad, gonna make me a sweet res! :P courtesy of uni engineering deptments equipment. i want it i want it i want it!
meh, back to reality and the stu loan and the overdraft...

Er Puk, what are 'T-Birds'????? Thunderbird/T-Bird is the internal AMD codename for the core used such as Palomino on the XP CPU's, Spitfire for the original Duron, Morgan for the later Duron. K7 for the original Athlon, etc. They are all Athlon's (with exception of the Duron), so a 1Ghz Athlon does exist. I never see T-Bird/Thunderbird stamped on my 1Ghz CPU, only AMD Athlon :D :D AMD released a very small number of 'T-Bird' core based 1Ghz Athlon's on Slot A as well to large OEM's such as Compaq :D :D
