corrupt registry

When I turn pc on I get error saying windows cannot start as the following file is missing or damaged, cant rember the exact file but has system32 in it. I know how to repair it using the recovery console but it is not installed on my pc and the windows cd rom does not work. Is there any way to make it work or another way to repair it?

You'll want to post the whole error message exactly as you see it, or better still write it down and google for it yourself.

The whole error message is alot more useful for finding the problem...

Have you tried booting in Safe-Mode (press F8 just before the XP boot screen comes up)?

The file which is curupt is the following: \windows\system3\config\system I also cannot start the computer in safe mode.
