have windows xp installed need to clean up the hard drive

used to use "format c" from command prompt but this windows programme

wont accept the command reading "incorrect command"

any ideas?

Use your Windows CD or whatever recovery CD your comp came with, to format it.

Please note, that a format to clean up your HDD is like using a nuke when you just need a small high explosive bomb.
