Were both these print screens taken one straight after the other? Looking at the CPU column and the usuage moniter, it dont quite add up. When was the last time you scanned for viruses, and and spyware? Do all that first and see if that comes up with anything.

looks loke there is a trojan or spyware running there m8. rundll32.exe is not a windows XP service. windows 98 yes but not XP.

I knew there was something wrong as I have two identical machines (for my sons), same software, same patches, same drivers - i have installed a game on one but it wont install on on this one with the odd cpu graph.

The graph has improved - it now usually reports about 60% usage, sometime 100% but at either time the processes list still only adds up to about 6%.

I agree with both of you but Ive scanned like mad all day, found and deleted some spyware, viruses and trojans but i think something is still left in there.

Ive been using norton av2004, adaware 6 and spybot search and destroy all with latest patches. They aren't finding any more problems but I think there is something still lurking around.

Can you recommend anything else?

Cheers

Give SpySweeper (http://www.webroot.com/wb/products/spysweeper/index.php) a try ;)

I've seen me use Ad-Aware 6 Pro... nuke anything it found... yet SpySweeper still found more  I rate it very highly (I registered it ages ago!) :)

Good luck, and I hope ye find the cause/a cure :D
