What make is the card?
As usual check the drive cables etc...
Sounds like a software driver issue...is the card software or hardware based?

Generic, but the drivers are silicon alpha.
the card is called st-305

I have been at this about 18 hours
the cables are good .connections good
When I went back to single drives on the mother ide it works fine

I am guessing that the card is software based and as such most likley going to be the drivers.
When you are installing Win2k do you press F6 during the first part of the install to install the drivers for the card?

Yes, and the drive is there
it partitions and formats
then loads files .
Then on startup I get the error

What happens if you try Raid 1?
It could be a problem with the drive being over 137Gb ... just a thought.
