ISP: Blueyonder Broadband Speed: 750k
Router:Belkin Model number: F5D5230-4 firmwear version: V1.20.003

i had an ics running but i had some problems with it so i removed it from my network and replaced it with a router, but now every 4 to 8 hours the internet connection is droped by the router and no computer can either access the net or the routers set up page, if the router is switched off and back on everything is fine and the connection returns but it is annoying having to do this. if anyone has any ideas on how i might be able to solve this problem i would be very grateful.

I assume that your getting BY through one of thier cable modems? This might be a problem...have you phoned support to get the signal quality on your line checked out. A problem of low signal quality is usually to blame for the line dropping.

As the problem also happened with ICS i suggest it may not be the router.

Are the router / cable modem overheating?

I have a similar problem to this, which again is more of an annoyance because it can always be solved by a reboot. I have a router and find that one computer, if it's left idle for some time loses the internet connection.

I've tracked this down to Zone Alarm, which if disabled allows the internet connection to be established again (it can then be restarted with no problems). However, there are 5 users and if someone is logged on with ZA running, it needs disabling from their username for this to work (not always possible with password protected logins).

Could it be a firewall issue in your case? Just a thought.
