I am runnin a celeron 633 overclocked to 790mhz .. now this machien locks up after being used for bout 5mins but the cpu only reaches 35C Anyone got any idea what else needs to be cooled or could be casueing thsi to happen
i run 1 80mm fan intake 2 40mm intsake 1 80mm exaust and a pci exaust fan case temp is 20C so im vry confused
any help much apreciated

some cpu's simply don't like to be clocked that high, an increase to 733 would be more respectable, try that insteead.

i can set it to 713 it does the dame at that speed also but the cpu still is cool

what other cards do you have in your system? What is the PCI/AGP divdier set at? What type of RAM do you have? What motherboard do you have?
There is a lot more to overclocking than just heat related issues, such as non-standard PCI & AGP frequencies etc.

The only other card in the system is the pci network card everything else is onboard .. i neglected to tell uit was in a briefcase .. i am using 186mb of micron pc133 cas2 sdram and using the intel own mother board using the 815 chipset .. tiny micro atx one ( the only one that would fit )
i haev had greta experience with overclocking in the past but i cant work out why this one is unstable ... thanx for anay input

have you tried increasing the cpu core voltage a little bit? this creates more heat, but sounds like you have room to play with here !
Just be careful with the bus speeds, as a bus speed of say 83mhz can put a lot of other devices out of sync (eg hard disk, network cards etc) - try and raise your fsb to above 92mhz, then the dividers on the bus speeds should adjust so that the pci bus is below 33mhz again.
It's often that the cpu and ram are not the items holding back an overclock - the key to success is getting a 'sweet spot' near to 100 or 133mhz as possible

Thanx a lot gramem ill have a fiddle the only prob is i can only change the fsb it is multipier locked at 9.5 so i can have 66mhz 75mhz or 83mhz only :( i may actually give up this idead and just stick withhte other 18 oc'd machines... i dont want to fry the case this one has take me ages to get going ... but again any other input would be helpful ... i am only a tek u know .. they dont teach u to overlock ;)

Original Intel branded mainboards are not knwn for their overclocking prowess (nor speediness), but for their stability at the official set speeds.
try it without the NIC and see how that goes as a lot of NIC's don't like the out of spec PCI frequencies that standard PCI dividers give when the FSB is overclocked

Thanx a lot i will try that

the reason your rig is freezing is.....
because it is overclocked.
I know that wasn't a lot of help, but you may want to try and boost the voltage a bit - not sure how you'll do this if you aint got any controls in the bios....
Your onboard graphics may be going belly-up because it cant take the speed or (maybe) the heat, so you may want to give that a go...
