For those who have Doom3

press ctrl alt and the tilde key

type timedemo demo1

then let it run

I ran it at 1024x768 at ultra high settings and my first benchmark was

35fps

second time around i got

45fps i read that it caches the sounds etc so thats why its higher.

anyone else got this amazing game!

its the one left of 1, and under the escape key.

i wrote down what i got but i cant remember now. but, i got an 8fps increase with the 4.9 beta's from ATI

alternatively you can just add

+seta com_allowConsole "1"

to the end of the run command line of the short cut. you only need to press ~ or `\¬\¦ key then

oh, hang on, my tilde key is actually on the same key as #, but for all my games the console is the one next to 1, ie the one that has ` | and ¬ on it

He's right. Anyone who has ever done any decent programming will tell you that ~ is a tilde. But yes the ¬`| one is often the console key on many games.

On an American keyboard, Shift + ` (key to the left of the 1) make a tilde, which is also why many games require you to hold shift rather than just press the key. Since most games are programmed in America. It means that even though the UK keyboard doesn't have the Tilde on that key, the game recognises this key as the key that should open the console anyway. The Tilde key on a US keyboard does \ and |, rather than # and ~.

Try it, I've found that on my MS wireless desktop on XP home that if I press shift and alt, it will turn my keyboard from UK to US (and back again). Hope that helps? :p

Edit - After turning off AOL and clocking my card to 535/570 i get 60.3 fps :D

typical hype..im expecting the same fom Half Life 2.

the one im really looking forward to is Killzone

im lacking belief in all the people saying they get 60fps etc...coz Radeon 9800XT, 512 mb ram, 2600 cpu and i get

20.4fps at 800*600 high textures

30.9fps 800*600 medium textures

Er, in benchmarks the X800 XT PE and 6800 Ultra get like 2.5x the score of the 9800 XT...so start believing. A lot of people also have 1gb of DDR 400, and either fast Pentium 4s or Athlon 64s.

I took a screenshot of my score (60.7fps) and the settings its on , but the screenshots are saved as .TGA and i dont know how to view them...... ne ideas ??

I just ran it with 8x AF and 4x AA and got 48.6fps :)

if you have photoshop you can open the .TGA file in that and then save it as a jpeg or whatever

i noticed later that the 60fps person was x800 and athlon64 etc..just ****e proramming that requires a machine that powerfull to run it.

Scores over 80fps have been reported by magazines doing tests of different graphics cards while running D3 to see what you really need.

Yes i have seen over 80fps ..... just not on the time demo and at 1280x1024 with ultra setting

in custom pc the 6800 ultra scored 71fps in high settings at 1600x1200 with 8x af. with the 6800gt not far behind with 59fps. thats on a 3.2c p4 not overclocked.

My GT is @ 425/1.13 but that's it, 87fps 1280 x 1024 ultra.

I get 50.6 fps stock, 52.8 fps oc'ed. Ultra, 1280x1024 noAA. Not too bad considering I got pc2100 ram...

Ok, I got my new RAM and now I get 60.3 FPS and that isn't even with my video card overclocked. Will post back with new scores when overclocked.

Alrighty, OC'ed my vid card and CPU/FSB/RAM and get 64.7 fps...not too bad for being on ultra @ 1280*1024... :cool:
