Which way round this is freaking me out!!

This has cost me a fortune and I don't want to blow it.

Ok this is only my second build and I'm having a bit of a freak out here.

Ok I've got the Abit Nf7-S and I am connecting the switches etc for power on etc from the case.

Which way round do these go so that I get the correct orientation.

The Power on connection has a red and black wire going into it which is positive and which isn't.

The red wire has a little symbol on the plastic bit with an S and an arrow I guess these means signal and is this positive.

If I do this the writing defining what wire is what is turned away fromm the motherboard towards the case.

I need a definitive answer here before I fire it up please.

Thanks

John

Looking at a computer I have next to me the red wire sits on the left. Writing facing downwards. I'm looking at the computer sitting normally as it would when finished. To be honest though, when I build my system if you get the wires round the wrong way, either the leds at the front wont work - turn the wires round, no ibm speaker sound and finally the switches wont function. It wont hurt your system.

The power and reset switch connectors can be put onto the headers any way round as all they are doing is making a contact between the two pins when the button is pressed, the LED and speaker connectors do have to be the correct way round and the white wires should denote the negative terminal on the LEDs, where as on the speaker the black lead denotes the negative wire, this enables you to make sure there connected the correct way round. But if they are not connected the correct way round you wont do any damage to your board, the LEDs and speaker will just not work.

Thanks guys for your reassurance.

Its powered up ok with just graphics and memory with power LED working phew.

I get so shakey on a new build its a real buzz when things go well so fingers crossed.

Now for putting in the hard drive and the opticals.

Good to know there is advice available almost immediatly.

Wow the internet hey, and this forum.:)

On MSI boards the mobo connectors for all the switches, LEDs etc. are colour coded so you can easily connect them the right way round :)
