Hello,

I'll keep this short and sweet, i downloaded 2 exe files, small applications.

Once completed they didn't have an icon, i ran them both but all that happened was MS-DOS windows quickly appeared then disappeared, so i tried to delete them but it says that the file may still be in us and cannot be deleted, moved renamed or overwritten.

I have tried everything i can think of [that can't be much].

Anyone got any tips/ideas?

What were the two installers? Also, are they still running after a reboot? Anything coming up in Task Manager? If so, try stopping the process.

There's no process's for them, they are not appearing in startup list.

They still do it after reboots, ive tried booting in safe mode with and without networking, searching for all entries in the registry with their names, deleted all of that and still to no effect.

The 2 installers are utilities for e107 themes.

Hmm, don't know what e107 is, but could you uninstall it, then reinstall it?

e107 is for websites, PHP based script which is all integrated. It's not on my machine its located on my web server. The actual apps have nothing in connection with e107 they only generate php scripts to add into e107 websites.

They're command line apps. You have to run them from the command line to get them to work.

you might also have to delete them from the command prompt with explorer terminated.

have you tried booting into safemode and deleting them?

They still do it after reboots, ive tried booting in safe mode with and without networking.

I think doing it without explorer started should work.

There's a useful download here (http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/reskit/tools/existing/inuse-o.asp) called Inuse which (supposedly) gets round the problem of being unable to delete/modify files which the system is using.
