hi
i've just built a new pc, specs are:

mobo - Albatron K8X800 Pro II (64bit)
cpu - Athlon64 3200+
cpu fan - akasa ak-855
ram - 1gb pc3200
HDD - 120gb 8mb ide maxtor
gpu - sapphire 9800pro (stock hsf)
psu - 500w
OS - winxp pro

anyway i turned it on everything is on psu, cpu fan, gpu fan, chassis fan etc
but nothing is coming up on screen just says no signal, ive tried both tft and crt.
i've tested all parts except mobo and cpu as i have nothing to test on.
any help is much appreciated. could this be something other than faulty hardware. (mobo light comes on).

cheers

How did you get windows to install on it?

"No signal" menas that, as far as your monitor is concerned, it's not plugged into a graphics card. It could be that your graphics card isn't properly seated in the AGP slot, or is just b0rked - you say you've tried it in another computer, and it worked fine? Failing that, it could be a dodgy motherboard.

Have you tried resetting the CMOS?

the hdd is the one i was using previously, the gpu i have now put in this pc (see rig 1), and obviously works fine, it also clipped into mobo fine, i haven't tried resetting cmos never done that b4 is it hard? oh and is it more likely to be cpu or mobo and how could i check?

cheers

Check your BIOS manual for steps on how to reset the CMOS. It's just a matter of fiddling with a jumper for a few seconds.

What type of card is it? Some newer boards are a bit dodgy when you try and use older cards on them, due to differences in the specs (e.g. different voltage) between AGP versions. Chances are you have an 8x AGP board; what AGP type does your GFX card use, and is it compatible with your board? Again, check the manual.

ok resetted the cmos no change, its a brand new sapphire 9800 pro as well, which is compatible, spoke to manufacturer think they may be replacing it for me.

Yes, most likely if there were no beeps. If it was GFX card there would be beeps (error code). There is no beeping, right? What BIOS does that mobo have?

In what board & with which chipset?
You really should have gone for a clean install or at the least removed the old mobo drivers.

buff check my first post in this thread, the chipset is VIA K8T800.

anyway the pc wouldn't even give the bios it was pretty much dead.

Actually I meant which board/chipset had it been on previously.
