Hey there folks,

I'm currently running my AMD Thunderbird (AXIA) 750 at 1GHz, I have however managed to get it up to 1251 MHz, at which point the temperature gets too high for my liking (59C at idle :eek: ). I'm wondering what the best solution is. I'm about to order a Antec SX 1030-B and add two extra fans, but what about the CPU cooler?? I'm currently running a Taisol that works quite well, but what's the best?? Not only that, but as I'm getting a quiet case, a quiet fan would be nice!

I know, I dont ask for much do I!!!

Cheers

Hello Andi,
I've got a 1GHz Athlon on a KT7A-RAID mobo,
I've tried 4 different Coolers, when running Quake3 for a while they came out like this:-

Generic HS + Fan -----> 44C
FOP38 (noisy) -----> 42C
ThermalTake MiniOrb (for sA)----->50+C (ouch)

and the one I'm using now:-
ThermoEngine V60-4250 -----> 40C and virtually silent (all the others made noise)

The FOP38 was like a F104 Starfighter behind the drag curve with full emergency power and brown bottom G-Suited pilot.

Hope this helps

How does a very quiet fan & good cooling sound and is available here at Kustom??? The Antec JetCool is at present running my 1Ghz@1066Mhz (8x133 on KT7A-RAID T'Bird) at 31C idle & 41C Full Load using the stock Antec Thermal Pads (found some local to me) in an Antec SX1030-B with 4 fans (2 at front & 2 at rear).

I changed from a Taisol to this Antec fan and have been mighty impressed, especially as all the reviews I read of it say it is not much of a cooler!!!!! Strange how real life goes completely against 90% of web 'reviews'???

What kind of temps were you getting before?? I looked at the Jet Cool and read a few reviews so I wasnt entirelyy sure, you've made me think again though, I may order one if there any good.

Idling at 44C with a Taisol (forget which model number now) and well over 50C under full load. My electirc bill has actually gone down for the past week or so since I have had the Fan believe it or not, by just under a Pound for the week.

Still not totally sure, and I have a few days before I have to place my order, what is the general feeling toward the ThermoEngine V60-4210?? This one is apparently quite yet powerful.

Hiya,
I see Kustom have the more expensive Thermoengine too, which might be even better.
As I said b4, this HS/Fan takes some beating, all I want now is some quiet case fans!!!! :D

The one I have makes no noise, I turned of all the case fasn last night and thought it make a little, then I remembered the northbridge fan on the KT7 pulled the plug on that and ....... silence ..... perfect!!!

Bye

Darren,

How long are those rounded cables???

I want to get some with my SX1030B, but i dont know how long I'll need for my A7V, all the connectors are half way down the right hand side of the mobo.

Cheers

Those are 45cm's. Just right for the KT7A-RAID

I'm making a super cooler for my duron 950 - 2x 120mm high volume fans stuck to a BIG heatsink - apparently used for cooling big audio amps (20cm tall, 15 wide/long)- with a 120w peltier pulled from a freezer.
I did a test on it playing UT - 2*c - the thing heated up my room more than my radiator!!!
I'm having problems though making it fit onto my board - the G.card slot is too close. Thinking about clocking it - any ideas? :D
Thanks
