View Full Version : Athlon MP Fan's/Cooling???
Am looking at getting my 2 x AMD Athlon MP 1800 (1.5Ghz) Procesors next week and was wondering what cooling people recommend for them? Looking for something that offers exceptional cooling but is also quiet (and no, I am not really looking into water cooling) Has any one seen any reviews around?
Also, does anyone know any UK suppliers who are selling the MP 1800 Processor?
Cheers
Sean
Don't know where abouts you are mate, but if you go to Kustompcs (http://www.kustompcs.co.uk), the shop's in Ayrshire, they're selling the MPs (cheaper than the XPs aswell). Good shop. Don't know if you can order online tho.

Make sure though that if the CPU's you buy are on the Organic Packaging (Brown plasticy instead of the purple/grey ceramic) that the HSF's you buy are definatly on the AMD recommended list, as a lot of the HSF's available don't 'clamp' down properly onto the core as the Organic Packaged CPU's are a little thinner in profile to the Thunderbird type CPU's.

I've used Microdirect in the past and found them very cheap, although the Athlon 1 GHz they sold me was only a 750! They do sell mail order but you have to ring them or e-mail, they dont do online ordering.

Well, I got fully built server with Tyan Thunder K7 (S2462N) plus dual AMD MP 1800+ and ATI 9700 pro GFX Card. I have hardly used that machine and I guess its been used less then 30 times since it was built. If you want I can post whole configuaration here.
Please let me know ....

Chuffin' Nora guys! Think you could throw up a few more links for us, eh
I strongly advise everybody in this thread who's mentioned a competitor site, to:
1. Remove the link/names from their respective posts!
2. Read the forum rules (http://forums.kustompcs.co.uk/announcement.php?f=38)!
These forums are owned, run and paid for, by Kustom PCs (http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/)... so linking to, or advising about competitor sites, is downright unfair :(
Being new to the forums is not an acceptable excuse... since you should've read the forum rules before joining
And the thread is 5 years old heheh.
Outdated hardware ftw!
Holy thread resurection batman :D.
I must admit, I've never seen a 5 year old thread resurected before.
