View Full Version : Bluetooth headsets suitable for PC and Nokia 3650
I pulled up this (http://forums.kustompcs.co.uk/showthread.php?t=11580) thread via a Google search, but noting the date it was posted, did not wish to get into trouble in my very first post by bumping a dead thread!
I am interested in obtaining a bluetooth headset for my Nokia 3650, which I love with a vengance. However, I also use audio on my PC (MSN webcam chats, playing music) and figured that if I was going to spend £50+ on a headset, I should at least make sure it would work on my PC!
These days, whenever I ask questions in Mobile phone shops, they all run away because they have no idea what I'm talking about. The best answer I got from a salesperson was that he was unsure how my PC would recognise that it needed to send the audio via bluetooth rather than the standard audio-out plug. I'm still no closer to identifying a suitable headset, can anyone here help me?

The only one Iknow that Kustom do is the Trust one, it will work with your PC, but I'm not sure about your phone.

I already have a TDK bluetooth adapter, so I wouldn't need the second item in your link, but the first looks interesting, especially as it only costs £30, rather than the £50+ that all the phone shops seem to want.
Has anyone here actually got a Bluetooth headset that they use for both PC and cellphone?

Sure have. ALL Bluetooth headsets will work with both Phones & PC's. To get the headsets working with PC's you need to enable the Bluetooth software to use the Headset for Audio Gateway. I have yet to come across a Headset I cannot get working with both. Currently here in front of me I have both a Jabra BT200 and a Motorola HS810 which work no problems at all.
To use the Headset via MSN you will need to run the Audio Wizard and select to use Bluetooth Audio (which should be set as default if the headset is switched on & connected to the PC).
BTW I currently work in a Mobile Phone Shop (Until August 7 anyway) :)

Hey there!!
I'm using a bluetooth headset at work at the moment with our VoIP phone system ( everyone else in my office has a phone on there desk and i'm stuck with the stupid software phone on my PC!!)
it works great! you just need to tell your computer to use the Bluetooth audio rather than speakers or line out! in the control panel...
:) all i need is a mobile with bluetooth Audio and i'm set :D lol!!

I worship at your feet! :D Especially if you work in a Mobile shop, because you'll know the kind of things I've been offered. A Logitech headset did catch my eye, mainly I suppose because it's a brand I recognise as they do webcams.
So, what to look out for in a headset? Some of them look pretty funky, but I'd chose functionality over looks any day (something I apply to my whole life - why else would I have a 3650? :p).

You can rise now POJ, my feet stink :) :) LOL
Personally I prefer the Jabra headsets as they to me are the most comfortable and the microphone is nearer to your mouth (less distortion & no shouting needed). Ones to steer definately clear of are Nokia & Sony Ericsson headsets. They are absolutely terrible & way overpriced (I have yet to come across a single Nokia bluetooth enabled device that actually works properly, sorry but that is truth). I have just literally thrown an 8910i at Nokia because the Bluetooth on it is utter rubbish and they cannot fix it (every other handset works fine that I have here in an XDA-II, Motorola V600, Sony Ericsson K700i & SE T610). I have tried in the course of the job headsets by BlueTrek, Plantronics, Belkin, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, etc and only the Jabra has worked 100% of the time regardless of device connected to. Jabra are not the cheapest of headsets but they are the most reliable that I have come across.

GPO, I posted a reply on your old thread regarding your 7650
My parents gave me £50 for a headset for my birthday. I went into my local T-Mobile shop, and the guy there said he'd had problems with getting the Jabra headsets to work with Nokia phones. What should I do? They certainly have a nicer appearance than the other ones that are readily available.
As an aside: I'd gone in there also to see about upgrading from my 3650. After half an hour the shop assistant concluded that for my requirements, the 3650 was still the best phone for me! :D No significant developments in mobile phone technology for a whole year!

Ditto. I used to work for O2 and we sold more Jabra BT200's & FreeSpeak 250's than any of the others put together.
They work 100% fine with;
Nokia 8910, 8910i, 6310i, 3650, 6820, 6600, 7600, 7610, 6230
Sony Ericsson T68i, T610, T630, Z600, K700i, P800, P900, P910
O2 XDA II
Motorola V600, V80
Siemens S55
These are handsets that I have PERSONALLY tested the Jabra headsets with over a period of time (not just connected them).
Funnily enough, the only headsets that have problems (even with their own branded handsets) are the ones from Nokia, SE and Motorola!!!!

I use a HBH-35 with a TDK bluetooth plus card in my laptop and a V600 and SE P800 without any issues, all seems to work well only the V600 has its funny moments.

As well as with the 3650, I want to use it with a TDK bluetooth connection on my PC. I'll pop into the T-Mobile shop today and see if they have a Jabra BT200.
I now have the Jabra BT200. I seem to have been able to pair it ok with my phone and PC, but when using WinMP I can't get the audio to output to the bluetooth headset. I went into the control panel and messed around, but all the headset does is make a set of 4 tones over and over, bit like in "Close Encounters" (except that was 5 tones, duh!)
What have I done wrong/not done?
EDIT: I went to turn the damn thing off and got a dialogue box on my PC saying the headset was now connected. As I type this I am listening to "Bad Touch" by the Bloodhound Gang :D
Next thing is to try it with MSN later tonight. Anyone do that? I'm assuming I just need to configure it for speech in the Control Panel?

All you need to do is to set MSN to use Bluetooth Audio instead of the sound card. The Wizar should automatically set it up if it is switched on.

I think you look less of an 'idiot' wearing a Jabra than any of the others (especially if like me your ears resemble a chimps)!!!!
Which is the better of the 2 BT Jabra's? I need to get one but not sure which one to get. The main use is for when I'm driving so I'm thinking the 250 as the battery life seems longer?
Recommend the Jabra BT200 and the 250 as well both excelent headsets.
Try amazon for them sub £40 for the 200.
JTQ :p
Ordered the 250 from fonejunkie, £42.50 with free delivery:)

Help, having similar problems.
I bought a plantronics M3000 headset for use with a TDK USB adaptor to allow me to use a headset when using the Skype VOIP website on a pc running XP with SP2.
I have tried it with/without the TDK software for the USB, I can connect the headset which it registers as an audio device but am unable to assign any services to it, do I need to?
On my pc, under control panel, sounds... I have tried setting all inputs/outputs to the headset, no joy there.
With the webiste's application I have tried setting all sound inputs/outputs to Bluetooth but alas, still no joy.
The headset works fine with a mobile, just not with my pc which is what I wanted it for, any thoughts?

What makes the Jabra one's so good? I was thinking of just buying the generic one for £17.99... http://www.mymemory.co.uk/product-info.php?id=269
