Hey all, I recently got a new Swiftech MC-462. Well I've fitted it on the mobo, with a delta 80mm screamer, and yes, it's really cold (35c). BUT, now I can't overclock as much as before????

Before I fitted it I could hit 1540MHz (154x10) no problem with my 1.33 AYHJA chip, and that was 100% stable, now it only goes to about 1460MHz before I get a BSOD. What the hell is going on here?? For information sake, it has a cool-shim on there now to stop the core getting crushed. Surely that won't make a difference? If the core was damaged it wouldn't run at all right?

I have tried turning other case fans off to see if the PSU (Enermax 431w) couldn't give out enough power. But no difference. Anyone have any ideas as to what on earth this could be, I've never heard of anything like it. The motherboard is the I-Will KK266. CPU temp is now 35c idle, before it was 45c. This should make the damn thing perform better for gods sake!!

Please, please, I would like a reply from all of you with your ideas as I am hitting a brick wall, and don't have a clue what's wrong. Thank you all, Bebop. :)

Seemingly the shim effects the performance cause the copper heatsink needs to breathe ,whereas an alu one doesnt i would just not use the shim,

Well I seem to have found the cause of the problem. And this is worth making a note of if you're thinking about buying the swiftech. Once installed, I got a hold of the heatsink and I could literally rock it on the CPU cause it was so loose! EVEN THOUGH I HAD FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS!

On the instrustion sheet downloaded from the site it says DO NOT fit the nylon washers beneath the springs (as to increase the downward pressure). Well f*ck that, on they went! And what happened? The CPU would run stable at 1560MHz and the temp under load was 36c!!! Idling at 29c!!!

WOW, what a cooler, admittedly, the delta screamer is extremely loud, but I am kinda getting used to it now, selective hearing!
Go get yourself one of these, these temps are amazing. Just don't forget to fit the nylon washers beneath the springs!!
