View Full Version : Zalman Gold Heat Sink
Anyone got any details on this fancy bit of kit. I have read 1 review that says it equals the best and has the added advantage of being whisper quiet. Comments?
water coolers are whisper quiet
Water coolers don't look as good as this though and if you spring a leak I would think that it may not be a good thing! ;)
How much are water coolers anyway?
Forget I asked about the price of water coolers. I just checked them out and the cheapest is £55+VAT and you need another computer case to store the 10 litres of water you need for it. You can buy ones that don't need the resevoir at £125+VAT but they have Twin 80mm fans on them, just like the ones that make all the noise on air coolers?
Not for me I'm afraid. :(

Zalman CNPS-3100G - 100@ pure copper and gold-plated and it performed mediocre at best. It is indeed alomst silent but unless you change the 80mm fan for a more powerful one - it doesn't cut it!
It is possible to get decent cooling out of this fan if you have good enough airflow. The problems sometings ocurred from recirculated hot air.
If youre into modding and cut an intake hole above the fan I would imagine you could do well. Alternatively I have seen a fan attached to the side of the HSF.
If you are into this I can dig up the links. There was a lot of discussion on Mikhailtech.
